Alfredo Arias

Alfredo Arias , born in on March 4th 1944 in Lanus in the suburbs of Buenos Aires, Argentine) is a Director, Comédien and Dramaturge.

Theatrical career

Alfredo Arias founds, in company of friends Artiste S and Acteur S, theatrical group “TSE” in Buenos Aires and puts in scene its first original creations mixing the Fantastique, the Féerie and the Humor: Dracula, Ventured, Goddess.Après being passed to New York, it settles with Paris in 1970. Its first part, History of the Theater, and its setting in scene of Eva Peron of Copi, are noticed for the originality of their tone, their imagination and especially a radically new glance on the theater. Follow police Comédie then; Luxate, a parody of musichall and Heartbreaks of an English she-cat, according to Balzac and Grandville, part with Masque S played more than three hundred times at Paris and recovery throughout the world in particular in Italy. “Group TSE” settles in various Parisian theaters and ensures several creations among which the Star of North, Jumaux Venetian of Goldoni, the Animal in the jungle of Marguerite Duras according to Henry James and the sitted Woman of Copi.

In 1985, it is named director of the National Dramatic Center of Aubervilliers where it will carry out face during six years a work on the traditional repertory, of contemporary creations and an ironic reinterpretation of the variety: Marivaux, Maeterlinck, Mérimée, Goldoni… Its Famille piece of music of artists is taken again in Argentina. It joined its Copi compatriot, for the Staircases of the Sacred Heart .

It will be invited to the Palais of the Popes to the Festival of Avignon to put in scene the Storm of Shakespeare, and by the French Comédie for the Round of Schnitzler to the Théâtre of Odéon. From 1992, it begins a series of original creations which enable him to invent a new theatrical language mixing poetic dance, music and dialogs: the review Mortadela (that he writes with Rene de Ceccatty with which he will collaborate from now on regularly) and for which he obtains Molière of the Best Musical production; the review of the Madnesses Shepherdesses; Insane of the Madnesses, Argentinian Faust; Heartbreaks of a French she-cat for which it obtains Molière of the best spectacle and Molière of the best costumes; the Lady with the camellias of Rene de Ceccatty with Isabelle Adjani; Cachafaz de Copi; a monolog for its actress Marilù Marini, Nini; Rain of Fire of Silvina Ocampo, To love his/her Mother and Mother and wire (with writers French, Argentinian, Uruguyan, Chinese and American).

He interpreted the role of Madam in Good the of Jean Genet of which he signs the setting in scene. And that of Madam de Sade in the part of Mishima which it also puts in scene.

Director of opera, it gives also a completely original key to works which it approaches in the lyric repertory in France (Opéra Bastille, Théâtre of Châtelet, Festival of Aix-en-Provence, Opéra of Caen), in Italy (Spoleto, Scala of Milan, Opéra of Turin), in Spain and Argentina (Teatro Colon): the Gallant Indies; The Rake' S Progress (two different settings in scene); the merry Widow; The Tales of Hoffmann (two different settings in scene); Udders of Tirésias; the Barber of Seville; the one night Dream of summer of Benjamin Britten; Carmen, entered with the repertory of the Opéra Bastille; Corte del Faraon in Zarzuela of Madrid; Maria of Buenos Aires; Bomarzo de Ginastera; Died in Venice de Benjamin Britten…

To the cinema, it turned Fuegos on an original screenplay, Bella Vista according to Colette for the cultural chain Arte. For television, it supervised turnings of Mortadela, Fous Madnesses, Faust Argentin and Concha Bonita.

Among its recent creations: Concha Bonita (with for interpreter principal Catherine Ringer and type-setter Nicola Piovani), a musical comedy whose Italian version has just been realized with Rome; Kavafis, three circles of the exile in the experimental center of the Theater Colonist in Buenos Aires; Incrustations; The Palate of the Queen in Spanish version within the framework of the Festival “Tinkled Frescas” of Buenos Aires, Relaciones Tropicales in Buenos Aires and Mambo Mistico (with the National theater of Chaillot), the Beautiful one and the Animals. In 2006 it creates and puts in scene the spectacle the Weddings of the Child King , presented to Versailles within the framework of the festival of the Fêtes of night . He collaborates with Chantal Thomas for the writing, Rita Mitsouko for the music and Roberto Plate for scenography. In 2007, it creates Divino Amore (with Rene de Ceccatty), interpreted by Marilú Marini, Antonio Interlandi, Sandra Guida and Alejandra Radano.

It published the majority of its original parts in France at Acts South-Papers as well as a novel Folies Phantom in 1997 with the editions of the Threshold.
