The peak of Balaïtous (: 3144 m) are the first peak of the chain exceeding the altitude of: 3000 m since the Atlantic Ocean.

Etymology: probably of the occitan vath (pron. beats), valley and leitosa (pron. léytouse), of lèit , milk thus milky. The name can mean the valley which gives Lait . More probably milky valley because of the color of the torrent resulting from the glacier from Mow Néous, in charge of muds blanchâtres coming from the decomposition from the successive Feldspar S of the Granite and running out moreover of cascades and rapids. The most attended routes borrow the Glacier of Mow Neous, or at least what it remains about it. Certain ways, bringing to the top by the Spanish slope, make borrow the large diagonal geological curiosity characteristic of Balaïtous. French refuges of Larribet (: 2060 m), of Balaïtous (G.
