Alexeï Rykov
Alexeï Ivanovitch Rykov , in Russian АлексейИвановичРыков (1881 - March 15th, 1938) was a revolutionist Bolchevik and political director of the Soviet Union. Of 1924 with 1929, he was nominal chief of the Soviet State as a president of the Conseil of the police chiefs of the people.
It was born from a country family in the surroundings of Saratov. In 1900, it adhered to the Democratic Social Working Parti of Russia (POSDR) and lined up side of the tendency Bolchevik when this one separated from the Menchevik S in 1903. It took part as a Bolshevik in the revolution fallen through of 1905.
There broke with this current in 1910 when the Bolsheviks opposed a project of reunification of the POSDR, remained however active with the Soviet of Moscow and worked for the constitution of a coalition of the movements on the left.
In 1917, Rykov joined the Soviet of Petrograd and the Central committee Bolshevik. In October it was allowed with the revolutionary Military committee which organized the Révolution of October.
In the new government Bolshevik, he became Commissaire of the People for the Interior until 1918; he broke with the Bolsheviks when those rejected the idea of a coalition government in order to monopolize the capacity with their profit. He returned soon, and occupied of the responsibilities in economic management. He still took part in the revolutionary Military council during the civil war. He succeeded Lénine as Head of the State in 1924 and supported Boukharine and Stalin against Trotsky. Rykov belonged to the “right” wing of the party and was in favor of the NEP (Nouvelle economic policy). When Stalin broke with Boukharine and the right wing of the party, Rykov was dislocated of its responsibilities.
It disappeared in anonymity until in 1938, during the great Stalinist purgings. He was then shown, just as Boukharine, Iagoda, Rakovsky and Krestinsky to have plotted with Trotsky against Stalin. He, for him, was unfortunately declared guilty following a sham trial then carried out on March 15th, 1938.
