Alexandre Charles Perrégaux

Alexandre-Charles Perrégaux was born on October 21st, 1791 in Neufchâtel, but from origin Frenchwoman and naturalized French, Alexandre-Charles Perrégaux entered to the military service in the capacity as second lieutenant, on July 2nd, 1807, in the battalion of Neufchâtel.

Sent in Algeria, it there was noticed in forwardings of Mascara and Tlemcen, and accepted in Mostaganem the command of a body of 5.000 men, with whom it subjected twenty-two tribes established between Mostaganem and Mascara. It is named brigadier June 6th, 1834. October 12th, 1837, it was with the head office of Constantine near the general Damrémont when this one was killed by a ball. Indicator to fall the general-in-chief, Perrégaux precipitated on him and, while bending down, was reached of a ball which crossed the nose to him and was inserted rather front in the palate.

Brought back to Bône and embarked for France, the Perrégaux general died during the crossing. He was buried in Cagliari.
