Albert-Picardy airport

The airport Albert-Picardy is located in Picardy at Albert in the Somme at the edge of the factory Airbus of Méaulte.

Description

The Albert-Picardy airport is built on 178 ha. A 2200 meters length track on 45 meters broad accommodates in particular the airfreighter Beluga. The site is equipped with a tower of control with an assistance system with the landing THEY of category 1, of a small air terminal of an airport service (firemen, refueling, etc.) of an aero club and finally of an immense hangar of loading/unloading of Beluga.

In parallel, two zones of economic activities will be created. One, established in edge of track, will be intended for the companies being able to profit from a direct access in track for dedicated freight.

A zone of activities located more at north will make it possible to accommodate complementary activities.

Activity

The airport of Albert-Picardy was born on June 7th, 2007, after more than five years of studies, administrative procedures and hardly more than one year of work.

Its principal vocation is the reception of the airfreighter Beluga which will transport at the rate of 4 rotations per week them front points (all the range Airbus) realized within the factory Méaulte Airbus, until the other sites Airbus (Saint-Nazaire for A380 for example).

Indeed, the Airbus site of Méaulte was the only one of all the Airbus sites which did not have a track and thus required daily heavy loads by the road which took several days.

The platform is also ready to receive civil aircrafts for the great events, like the World cup of Rugby of September 2007, tourism of war, as well as the aviation of business or tourism.
