Biography
It has two brothers, two half-brothers and a half-sister.
Beginnings
He saw only six months with the Morocco and passes his childhood to Paris. His/her father is Professor and his mother Romancière. In 1959, during holidays with the Ski, his/her father disappears in an car accident whereas the artist is only fifteen years old. This death will mark it deeply and inspire a song which will appear on the content album Jamais , Eighteen years that I have you with the eye , in 1977.The family knows financial problems. Testing difficulties of adapting in the middle of the other pupils, it is then sent in a French college in England by his mother. Its inscription not being valid, it remains nevertheless on the spot, and saw odd jobs there for eighteen months. It develops its taste for the song to with it. It misses its baccalaureat by correspondence three times.
Returned to France he saw odd jobs again and tries his chance in the song, occurring in Parisian rooms. In 1970, it Marie with Francoise. The same year, it has a son Pierre. The following year three 45 turns are published at Pathé Marconi, but are failures. Its second wire, Charles, were born in 1978 and will become thereafter the singer Ours.
The beginning of success
In 1973, artistic Bob Socquet director of RCA Records involves Alain to present his song the love 1830 to the contest of the Rose d' Or of Antibes, where it carries the special price of criticism and the price of the press. It meets Laurent Voulzy in 1974. Bob Socquet, still, feels to him that collaboration between the two men can be profitable, the musics being the weak point of the songs of Souchon. Souchon and Voulzy will be dependant since this day by their friendship and their artistic complementarity. Laurent Voulzy carries out arrangements of the first album of Alain Souchon I am ten years old , then the musics of Bidon left in 1976.
This collaboration allows the success of these discs. In 1977 is published Jamais content . Alain Souchon also takes part in the discs of Laurent Voulzy by writing various texts. In 1978 is born its second wire, Charles. This last, after a career of graphic designer (he is the creator of the last versions of the site of its father), also launches out in the song under the pseudonym Ours. Its first album Mi leaves in 2007.
Alain Souchon, with the pace of dishevelled poet, occupies a special place in the universe of the French song. He handles readily a light humor, but not stripped of acidity ( “a church, it is beautiful, because it is useless” ).
The texts of Alain Souchon speak about nostalgia, the pressure of appearing, the modernism, and the difficulty in existing, as a respected individual, or simply in peace. Its lighter songs often evoke the weakness of the men vis-a-vis the female seduction. It took an active part in the Resto du coeur and Sol in if, in particular.
Quoting the artists who influenced it, such Léo Ferré, or Bob Dylan, Alain Souchon collaborates readily with other artists, such of course, Laurent Voulzy, but also Michel Jonasz, Louis Chedid, Veronique Sanson and well of others. It is also known to strew its texts with references to people who marked it, such Somerset Maugham, Theodore Monod, Ava Gardner, Robert Zimmermann…
Alain Souchon was an actor noticed in several films, I love you , Any fire, any flame , the fatal Summer . Paradoxically, he regards itself as “step taken for that”.
Today, Alain Souchon always continues to write and to occur.
He, moreover, beat in April 1984 a record of crossing of the Manche, with a copilot, on a plane of construction amateur, in 1:24 min (record approved by the international aeronautical Fédération).
