Air Canada

Air Canada (Code AITA: AC ; Code ICAO: ACA ) is the national airline company of the Canada. It is a member of Star Alliance.

It manages approximately 360 planes with 40.000 people. Air Canada is the 11th larger airline company in the world. Its hub principal is the Pearson International airport of Toronto.

It named Trans-Canada Airlines (TCA) until 1964. It was privatisée in 1989. In 2000, it was obliged to absorb the second ropeway, Canadian Airlines, which led it to a disastrous financial position and the bankruptcy proceedings on April 1st, 2003.

The Reorganization including a strong reduction in the pension plan of the employees and the change of the holders of the capital (new shareholders being the Cerberus bottom, the Deutsche Bank and GE investment) allowed an exit of the protection of the courts the September 30th 2004.

In September 2004, the company confirmed the firm control of 45 Embraer 190 and 15 Embraer 175 as well as 30 others additional CRJ in the fleet of Air Canada Jazz.

Boeing 787-800 should replace starting from 2010 the Boeing 767-200-ER and the Boeing 767-300-ER.

Subsidiary companies and partners

Tango Airlines was a Canadian Airline company, at low costs. It was a subsidiary company of Air Canada until 2004, date on which it was integrated in the latter.
