Aed Ier of Scotland
Aed (840 - 878), also called Aedh or Aodh , became king d' Écosse in 877, succeeding his/her brother Constantin Ier of Scotland. It was killed shortly after its accession with the throne by Giric - also known under the name of Gregorius Large - which conspired against him with the nephew of Aed, the Eochaid.
One knows little thing of Aed, not even if it is really that chosen by Constantin to succeed to him. Eochaid and Giric reigned jointly after its death.
It is known that Aed was married, but one is unaware of this marriage very, including the name of the wife. A first wire, Constantin II of Scotland, reigned of 900 with 942 or 943, while a second, Donald, became king of Strathclyde in 908.
Aed died violently into 878, in the town of " Nrurim" with the Strathallan in the north of Stirling. It would have been buried in Maiden Stone in the Aberdeenshire. Eochaid succeeded to him according to the habit of the Tanistry .
