Action Comics is the Comic states-unien which introduced to the world the character Superman, the first true Super-héros. Its editor was initially known under the name of Detective Comics, Inc. , then like National Comics and National Periodical Publications, before taking its name running, cd. Comics , a subsidiary company of Time Warner.
First appearance of Superman
Two named teenagers Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster launched their creation in number 1 of Action Comics in June 1938. The dynamic character of the “ Homme of steel ” (“ The Man off Steel ” in English) met an immediate success and changed forever the vision of the public on the cartoons.Action Comics was quickly followed of a series devoted to Superman, and by a pleiad of other comics to the many dressed up supermen.
Other heroes
In the beginning, Action Comics was an anthology as gathering other adventures as those of Superman. Zatara, a magician, thus had its own stories in the first numbers (Zatanna, a heroin of the Sixties, is the girl of Zatara). Sometimes more comic stories were presented, like those of Hayfoot Henry, a making police officer of the rhymes. Gradually the size of the numbers was reduced because the editor did not want to increase the price of origin of 10 hundred , involving less stories. During one moment, Congo Bill and Tommy Tomorrow remained only attractions of the publication apart from Superman (Congo Bill exchanged its body with that of a Gorille and its adventures were famous Congorilla ), but the introduction of Supergirl into the number #252 (in May 1959) signed the end of the adventures nonrelated to Superman. Since then, there remained comics entirely devoted to Superman, even if some other adventures made occasional appearances.
Nowadays
In 2005, Action Comics is always published, exceeding the 800 numbers. They is the comics American having the most raised classification and is the older second comics of the History preceded by Detective Comics. However, it cannot claim to have had an uninterrupted publication since the publication was suspended for three months twice: in 1986 (the regular exits of Superman stopped at the exit of the mini-series of John Byrne) and in 1992 (following the episodes “the death of Superman” and “Funeral of a friend” - “ Death off Superman ” and “ Funeral for has Friend ”). In 1988, cd. Comics tried in vain to pass from the monthly format comic-book to a weekly anthology, but they made back machine afterwards less than one year. Another exception to the strict monthly publication consisted of giant republications of the adventures of the Sixties of Supergirl (published like the 13th annual number).
