Achôris

Achôris reaches the throne of Egypt in -392 and reigns during 14 years. This period is a national revival which appears by the resumption of great work in the temples: with Louxor, Karnak, Médinet Habou, El Kab, Tôd, Médamoud, and Elephantine. A certain number of statues and objects with its name, comparatively much more than those left by its predecessors, confirm this impression. The fact that one found some until in Phénicie also indicates a recovery on the international plan.

Wars and conquests

Achôris pushed back the Persian armies which tried during three years, from -385 to -383, to overcome Egypt organized much better than it was not before its reign.

Instead of being divided, its forces are gathered under only one authority. The Egyptian fleet is one of most powerful of its time, and the army profits from the support of Greek troops of elite, encouraged by the party antiperse and ordered by the Athenian general Chabrias who durably strengthens the accesses of the pélusiaque branch of the Nile. Not only the Persian attempts show a failure, but the Egyptians manage to regain a footing in the Middle East.
