Abos is a common French, located in the department of the Yrénées-Atlantiques and the area Aquitaine.
Its inhabitants is called Abosiens and Abosiennes.

Toponymy
The toponym Abos is mentioned in XIIIe century (Fors de Béarn), and appears in the forms Abossium (1345, notaries of Pardies) and Abous (1538, reformation of Béarn).It can have various explanations, most probable according to Michel Grosclaude being a Latin name Avus with the Aquitanian suffix - ossum.
History
Paul Raymond note which the commune counted a laic, vassal abbey of the Viscount of Béarn and which in 1385, Abos depended on the Bailliage of Lagos and Pardies, cash 49.feux.The lord of Abos had the first rank after the barons (first ruffebaron ) of Béarn.
