Arrangements are complex and very required and thus confer on their repertory a recognizable signature between all. One can find all their songs has cappella on the compilation Vox left in 1996.
Music
Electric guitar with mandoloncelle while passing by the Cromorne or the Violin, the group knew to marry traditional and electric instruments thanks to a scientist proportioning. The melodies result generally from the folklore but very often of the original compositions introduce or finish traditional topics. The group also works on innovative sounds and sound effects (which create a particular environment) and goes until creating new instruments such as the famous organ with voice which one can amongst other things hear on the title the White Hind . Are also used less known instruments such as the Dulcimer, the virginal, the Vielle with wheel, the Nyckelharpa, the viola d'amore, the elka and well of others still such as the Glockenspiel.
The musical influences of the group are mainly the traditional Musique French and sometimes Québécois, the music of the Middle Ages, the Celtic Musique but also the Rock or the Jazz.
Topics
With the image of the traditional songs, the majority of the titles of Malicorne cover dark subjects such as the loves disappointed, the war, the poverty or of sad stories of terror as in the bloody inn . Very often the magic and the curses in any kind also hold an important place in their albums: the titles of the album the Bestiary are the perfect illustration.
