Ab urbe condita

AUC is the abbreviation of the phrase Latin E ab Urbe condita , which means “starting from the foundation of the City” ( of Rome , the word Urbs takes a capital letter here). It was used by the former Romans like origin of the dating of the Année S.
This foundation is placed in the year 753 av. J. - C., on April 21st.
