Aastra Technologies

Aastra Technologies Limited () is an dedicated group in the Communication of company. Based with Concord in the Ontario in Canada, Aastra develops and markets solutions integrated bound for the companies of any size. The range of software based on traditional technologies and IP of Aastra meet the requirements in communication and collaboration of the companies. These solutions include/understand management tools of network, terminals telephone, systems and computer applications.

Strategic directions

In 2005, more than 10% of the turnover of Aastra was devoted to research with the development.

The R & D concentrate on the implementation of technology telephony on IP (ToIP, VoIP, SIP) which is the recognized future of the market of the equipment télécoms, in particular with regard to the networks, the terminals and the solutions of mobility.

History

Aastra Technologies Limited was founded in 1983 like a company of engineering in the sector of aviation and defense. In 1992, the company launched out on the market of telecommunication and started with the development as well as the marketing of products for the residential market.

In 1999, it was the largest supplier of apparatuses of identification of call in North America. Between 2000 and 2002, Aastra was a very important supplier of terminals system and gateways thanks to the acquisition of division Access Solutions of Nortel Networks, the products Centrex de Nortel Meridian Business Systems and division DIGITAL Video of Lucent.

Among his customers one can distinguish Bell Canada, British Telecom, Cable & Wireless, CBS, CNN, COLT Telecom, Qwest, Sprint and Time Warner.

In 2003, Aastra decides to launch out in the telephony of company and within this framework it makes three acquisitions, in a successive way, various divisions of european companies.

Recovery Ascom Holdings AG “Division PBX” (September 2003)

Whereas Aastra was not at all present in Europe, the department " PBX " of Ascom was already very active: it had offices in 14 European countries.

It had as an activity the development, the sale, the installation and the maintenance of telephone centres Ascotel IntelliGate. Companies such as Swisscom, Telefonica and Telecom Italia distributed its products; thanks to that, Ascom occupied the fifth place on the European market.

Before this recovery, Aastra was active only on the market of the telephones, the access to the networks, and the diffusers of video. It did not have any telephone center in its product range.

This complementarity as well geographical as on the level of the products, made of Ascom PBX the ideal partner of Aastra to extend its activities.

Recovery EADS Telephony Business (February 2005)

The activity of EADS TELECOM was the development, the sale, the installation and the maintenance of solutions of made safe telecommunications, based on NeXspan, its range of telephone centres.

EADS TELECOM Benelux belonged to EADS TELECOM, the strategic branch of the group EADS (European Aeronautic Defense and Space) centered on telecommunications.

This company was classified in fifth position on the European market of the telephony of convergent company and in second position in France (Aastra Matra), with respectively 7 and 30% of market share.

Recovery DeTeWe Telecom System Business (July 2005)

DeTeWe Telecom System Business belonged to the German group Rochling, whose principal seat is located at Mannheim. DeTeWe Business is specialized in the telephone centres and the wireless telephony (DECT).

The history of DeTeWe in Germany goes back to more than 100 years with the production of the first German telephones. In Germany, the company has a vast distribution network. DeTeWe Business has a strong position on the level of the communication products without wire, marketed under their own name like in the capacity as OEM. Some partners OEM are NEC Philips, Nortel, Deutsche Telekom, Belgacom and KPNTelecom.
