Synopsis

In the south of the French Indo-China, in the years 1920, a sick widow lives with her two children, Joseph and Suzanne (20 and 16 years). Their Bungalow is isolated in the marshy plain from Kam.

The mother wants to marry Suzanne with Mr Jo, rich person, but ugly.

Mr OJ tries to buy Suzanne because it wishes it. It offers beauty products, a gramophone to him then finally a ring with a Diamant, but this diamond contains a clamping plate. This novel is the description of existing misery in Indo-China, of the children who die the every day, one swindles dignitaries who sell noncultivable concessions. With the wire of the novel, one meets characters with strong characters: The mother, Suzanne, Joseph but also Carmen, Lina, etc
