AMX-10 RC

AMX-10 RC is an armoured vehicle of recognition builds by Giat Industries (Workshops of Issy Moulineaux - AMX), of class 10 tons, with wheels and gun (RC it is for recognition and not wheels gun).

In service in the French Army since 1980, it replaces RBE (armoured vehicle of recognition) in the regiments of light Cavalerie. It is intended to fill of the missions of armor-plated information, safety, investigation. It is entirely amphibious and suited has to fight in contaminated atmosphere.

Initial equipment

The project began in 1970 and the series production started in 1976.

The AMX 10 RC entered in equipment the regiments of cavalry armor-plated of Divisions of Infantry in 1980, like in the regiments of recognition of Army corps. In 2006,256 are in service in the French Army , 108 in the Moroccan armed and 12 with the Qatar.

Armament/turret

1 gun of 105 mm which can destroy any armored vehicle until a distance from 2.000 Mr. the gun can fire the high-explosive shells (OE), with hollow-charge (OCC), arrow (OFL). Carrying 38 shells (12 out of turret and 26 in case).

1 fire control system automatic (COTAC) to laser telemetry.

2 Machine-gun S AANF1 of 7,62mm (one in superstructure, coaxial).

The turret is driven hydraulically by means of a hydraulic pump. The operating pressure is of 90 bars and it controls with 120 bars.

Case

Case seals in Aluminum tack welded. Train of bearing of 6 Wheel S independent rises on hydropneumatic suspension by a system of variation of ground clearance (SVGS). The ground clearance is variable according to 4 positions: park, road, any ground and high, it is driven by a hydraulic pump flasquée on the timing-gear case of the engine. Diesel engine Baudouin 6 cylinders out of V with 90°, developing 290 CV with 3000 trs/min. Hydraulic transfer of couple. Box 4 reports/ratios (4 walk before and 4 in step back with system of direct reverser) with transmission electromechanical of cut and managed electronically using an electropneumatic order with microprocessor (CEPM). The vehicle is equipped with the System Information Terminal Version 1 (SIT V1) within the framework of the digitalization of the battle field. The renovated version includes/understands, inter alia, a nape of the neck and a coder turret modernized.
