AIFF is an audionumerical format of file developed by Apple to store the sounds on the computers of the mark. AIFF is an acronym which means has udio I nterchange F island F ormat .

This format is not without pointing out the format WAV of Microsoft.

Files AIFF generally carry the extension .aif, or .aiff.

The data are coded in PCM big-endian without compression. Thus, a track Audio CD, coded in 16 bits, stereophony 44,1 Khz will have a Bitrate of 1411,2 kbit/s. It exists nevertheless a compressed format (AIFF-C or AIFC) which supports a compression being able to go until a report/ratio 1/6.
