  • the emperor Yōzei is deposited by the uncle of its father, who replaces it on the throne under the name of emperor Kōkō.

The Middle East & Arab world

  • May 10th: Khumarawaih, wire of Ahmad Ibn Touloun succeeds to him as governor of Egypt and marries the girl of the Caliph. He reconquers the Syria re-occupied by the troops of the caliph, then installs his capital with Damas where he will be assassinated in 896. Its successors will be impotent to defend Syria and Egypt which will be reconquered by the caliph Al-Muqtafi in 905.

  • December 12th: Carloman II of France, King de France of 879 with 884, wounded by a wild boar.

  • Muhammad ibn Nusair Al Namîrî. Founder of a sect (Nusayrî or Alaouites) which admits the incarnation of the Holy Ghost in a succession of Imams and rejects the majority of the ritual regulations of Islam.
