Worsen Carolingian

May 5th: Dedication of the Collegial Sainte-Marie, built by Charles the Bald person, grandson of Charlemagne to Compiegne, of which he wanted to make the capital of the Western Empire.
- June 16th: Signature with Quierzy-on-Oise, by the emperor Charles the Bald person, of the Capitulary of Quierzy establishing heredity in the fields and the loads for the descendants of the noble parties in Italy with him: it is the beginning of the Féodalité .
- October 8th: Died of the emperor Charles the Bald person in the valley of the Maurienne to the return of a forwarding against noble revolted Italian. The empire remains vacant until in 881. His/her son Louis II '' the Stammerer '' succeeds to him.
- Beginning of the reign of Louis II '' the Stammerer '', King de France (fine in 879). He must share his capacity with the large ones. Bernard de Gothie refuses to recognize its authority. Bernard Plantevelue and Boson helps Louis to subdue the rebellion, but will preserve for them the counties held by Bernard de Gothie (878).

- the pope Jean VIII seeks vainly, by the money and excommunication, to detach Amalfi Sarrasins. The city is however committed protecting from them the coast of Italy from the South.

- Photios becomes again patriarch of Constantinople with died of Ignace (fine in 886).
- the pope Jean VIII accepts that a new council cancels that of 869 -870 which condemned Photios.
- the Croatia passes under the influence of Byzance.

- Ahmad Ibn Touloun invades the Syria and the Palestine.

Revolt qarmate (sect ismaïlienne founded by Hamdan Qarmat, peasant of Iraq), religious jacquerie of peasants stripped by the extension of the great fields, in Iraq, Syria and Mésopotamie. The Qarmates transfer then their activity to the Bahrain (903).
