51e State

In the American political discourse, the expression 51^e State indicates the territories which are regarded as being candidate for an adhesion with the union gathering current the 50 States of the United States. While some use this term in a political context in a serious way, it is generally employed to indicate in a negative way the Canada entire without taking account of its 10 provinces and 3 territories. Before Alaska and Hawaii do not join the United States in 1959, the term are equivalent was the 49^e state. In a current way month, this expression is sometimes employed to indicate the countries, or being perceived as being, under American control or the American influence.
