To died of Friedel, the direction is entrusted to Henri Moissan, first French to receive the Nobel Prize of chemistry in 1906. This one founds an entrance examination, and renames the school " Institute of chemistry ". The institute is authorized as from 1907 to deliver a diploma for the occupation of chemical engineer. With died of Moissan in 1907, Faculty chooses to name a collegial direction, before finally entrusting the position of director to Camille Chabrié. The school is closed during the first two years of the First World War before reopening its doors in 1916. It is then one of the first schools of engineer to accommodate women among its pupils.
