The 33e regiment of marines is a unit of the French Army. Regiment of reserve of the 3rd regiment of colonial infantry, the 33e regiment of colonial infantry is made up in Rochefort on Mer during the mobilization of 1914. The Second world war

May 1st, 1940, it is given on foot and becomes the 33e regiment of Senegalese mixed colonial infantry. Dissolved on August 1st, 1940.

After Second world war

It is reconstituted on January 1st, 1961 like regiment of tradition of the the Antilles - Guyana. Since this date, he affirms the French presence in the Caribbean. In 1998, the 33e of marine reorganizes and professionnalise within the framework of the recasting of the Army. The professional regiment in July 2000 is composed for a third of permanent civilians and reserve, for a third of soldiers on mission of long life and the third remaining on mission of short duration. It incarnates perfectly our new Army and its objectives. The engagement of young West-Indian, EVAT and VDAT, reinforces the close links with social fabric of the island, facilitates the integration of the young volunteers of the others weapons and ensures cohesion and the expertise on Outre-Mer, so that in Martinique, and in the name of God, lives the Colonial one!!!

The missions of the 33e RIMa are:

  • in the capacity as force of sovereignty, terrestrial military defense and the help with the populations

  • in the capacity as prépositionnée force, the protection of our interests and our nationals of the Caribbean zone
  • in the capacity as platform overseas, the administrative and technical support of the terrestrial forces and the garrison and formation with the action in tropical medium wet of the revolving modules

33e RIMA is a regiment of light Infantry motorized on tactical vans of Marmon type, VUTC, SUMB, VUTC TRM 4000, VTC Peugeot, and Armament Leger d' Infanterie.
