2nd regiment of the scouts of the imperial Guard
During the Retirement of Russia, the imperial armies are regularly taken with part by detachments of cossacks, regiments of light cavalry much more mobile ques the pomegranates with horse or than the dragons.
Very impressed, Napoleon i decides on his return in France to create the Scouts of the imperial Garde, three regiments of cavalry, which would be a perfect counterpart of the Cosaques.
Creation
With the dramatic prospect to have to fight on the French soil, for the first time since the Wars of the Revolution, Napoleon i reorganizes his Imperial Guard on December 9th, 1813. Article 1 of the decree specifies the creation of the Scouts of the Imperial Guard. 3 regiments will then be created.
The 2nd regiment is attached to the dragons of the Empress, from where her name of regiment of the scout-dragons.
Chiefs of police
The regiment was initially entrusted to Colonel-Major Leclerc. This last being named general less than one week afterwards, it was replaced on December 17th, 1813 by Colonel Hoffmayer, defector of 2 {{E}} Régiment of Dragons of the line.
The unit consists of 4 squadrons of 250 men each one, whose chiefs are:
- Parizot, old of the Hunter to horse of the Guard,
- Lebrasseur, also of the Hunters to horse of the Guard,
- All Saints' day, transferred from the 13 {{E}} Regiment of Hunters to Horse of the Line,
- Bourbon-Busset, transferred from the 27 {{E}} Regiment of Hunters to Horse of the Line
The majors and certain officers were classified in the Old guard. The remainder of the troops being in the Young person Guard.
