- Birth of The Peanuts . The characters (Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty and Shermy) appear for the first time on October 2nd, 1950 in seven American daily newspapers. The dog Snoopy will make its appearance later two days. Until his death in February 2000, the American draftsman Charles Schultz will write 17.897 Comic strip S daily newspapers whose development is based on the principle of comic of repetition (running gag) where the same situations between the characters return throughout the course of the history.
