Events

  • January 4th: the Room approves the construction of the Ligne Maginot.
  • February 17th: fall of the president of the Council André Tardieu.
  • February 21st: Camille Chautemps president of the Council.
  • February 25th: fall of the president of the Chautemps Council as of the presentation of its government to the Room.
  • March 2nd: Tardieu president of the Council (2).
  • March 4th: terrible floods ransack the Languedoc and South-west, causing the death of 700 people. Twelve departments submerged by water are in a crisis. Moissac is partly shaven, Montauban and partially destroyed Agen.
  • March 27th: approval of the Young plan by the Room.
  • May 2nd: law of May 2nd, 1930 modified having the aim of reorganizing the protection of the natural Monuments and the sites of nature artistic, historical, scientific, legendary or picturesque.
  • June 30th: final evacuation of Germany by the Allied troops.
  • July 1st: first obligatory Social Security in France.
  • In July, Maurice Thorez becomes general secretary of the PCF.
  • France is touched with the autumn by the international crisis. The weakness of the franc and the markets of replacement of the colonies made it possible to move back the effects of the crisis.
  • October 9th: inauguration of the Bridge Albert-Magnifying glass by the president of the French Republic Paul Doumer.
  • November 21st: arrest of Albert Oustric. The Business Oustric, politico-financial scandal, will cause the fall of the Tardieu cabinet.
  • December 4th: fall of the president of the Tardieu Council.
  • December 13rd: Theodore Steeg, president of the Council.

    • Publication of the notebooks of Schartzkoppen, which clear Dreyfus completely.
    • the industrial production (bases 100 in 1913) reached index 140.
    • the government creates the Higher committee of standardization, charged with preparing the standardization of the industrial production.
