  • 6 April 15th. Renovated Olympic Games with Athens. 285 athletes of 14 nations clash in nine disciplines (Athlétisme, Haltérophilie, Lutte, Escrime, shooting, Cyclisme, Gymnastique, Natation and Tennis) for 44 tests. The tests take place in particular at the stage Panathénaïque (60.000 places) restored for the occasion. To note that competitions of veil and Aviron were initially programmed, but they cannot be held because of the bad conditions of sea.
  • April 6th. After fifteen centuries of interruption, the first crowned Olympic champion is the American James Connolly who gains the contest of triple jump with 13,71 Mr.
  • April. French raid with the OJ in Cycling. Leon Flameng removes the test of the 100KM, while Paul Masson is triple Olympic champion: over track, it gains the tests of the continuation, the 2.000 and the 10.000 Mr.
  • April. The Greek shepherd Spiridon Louys gains the Olympic first Marathon. This test of forty kilometers is created for the occasion in order to commemorate the course of Phillipides coming announced to the Athenians the victory from Thémistocle over the Perse S.
  • April 15th. Enclose Olympic Games of Athens. At the table of the medals, the USA arrive at the head with 12 Olympic titles in front of the Greece (9), the France (5), the Germany (5) and the the United Kingdom (4).
