- Marc Aurèle, Spaniard of origin like Trajan and Hadrian, has behind him neither career of soldier nor passed of administrator. Stoical, disciple of Epictète, it is however an energetic man of action. Inside, it pursues the policy of its predecessor and maintains good relationships with the Sénat. Legislator, it endeavors to make penetrate the new principles of morality and humanity, in particular in favor of the women and the slaves.
