- August 2nd: Pie IV founds the Sacrée Congregation of the Council, ( S. Congregatio Cardinalium Concilii Tridentini interpretum ), to take care of the right-hand side interpretation and the practical observance of the standards defined by the Concile of Thirty.

France
- Frozen of olive-trees in Provence.
- Catherine de Médicis moves away the Guise (ultra-catholics) and the Châtillon-Coligny (huguenots) from the Council to the beginning of the year. It is surrounded by faithful moderate (Michel of Hospital, the bishops Monluc and Morvilliers) reinforced by large lords (the cardinal of Bourbon, Montmorency).

Poland
- Introduction of the liberum veto in Poland (required unanimity with the diet to adopt a resolution). This right is definitively adopted in 1589.
- Catholicism is proclaimed religion of State by the diet of Poland.
- Installation of the Jesuits in Poland, called by the cardinal Stanislas Honsius. They are given for mission of recording the intellectual level of the clergy and faithful by creating colleges and of implementing the decisions of the Concile of Thirty. Between 1564 and 1654, they will found 50 colleges in the main cities, which will train the future leaders, constituting with the Diet a catholic party favorable to the Habsbourg and for measurements constraining against the Protestants.
Russia

April 30th: Exile of the prince Andre Kourbski in Lithuania. It takes service near the king of Poland.
- November 24th: Ivan the Terrible leaves Moscow for Alexandrov, announcing that he had abdicated.
- December 25th): Ivan the Terrible returns by surprised to Moscow, while being made vote by plebiscite by the people the tsar agrees to take again the capacity provided that it is absolute. A Zemski sobor ratifies the decisions taken.
