  • Mathias Corvin concluded from alliances with the king of Bohemia Georges de Poděbrady (January) of which he marries the Catherine girl and the archduke of Austria Albert de Habsbourg (April) against the emperor Frederic III. This one is put in rout and an armistice is signed with Laxenbourg until the June 24th 1462.
  • Vlad III Empaleur (Dracula), voïévode of Valachie, which ceased paying tribute with the sultan since 1459, projects to marry a relationship of Mathias Corvin. In reaction, the sultan sends to him in embassy the Greek Thomas Katabolènos, who claims to him the arrears of the tribute and the delivery of five hundred young Christians for the body of the janissaries, which Vlad cannot accept. Hamza bey de Nicopolis would then have tried to seize the person of Vlad. It will be impaled with the Katabolènos ambassador. Vlad crosses the the cold Danube and invades the Bulgaria (winter 1461-1462). Its raid would have made 23  883 died among the population.

France

  • July 22nd: Advent of Louis XI, king of France of 1461 with 1483.
  • August 14th: Louis XI is made crown with Rheims.
  • August 30th: While turning over to Paris, Louis XI stops with Saint-Denis and made there celebrate an office with the memory of his father; on this occasion, the papal legate raises the excommunications incurred by Charles VII to have promulgated the Pragmatic Sanction of Bourges.

Art & culture

  • François Villon is imprisoned with Meung-sur-Loire for unknown reasons during the summer. It is released the October 2nd thanks to the arrival of Louis XI in the city but, returned with Paris, it is implied in a brawl where François Ferrebouc, pontifical notary, are wounded; decree, tortured and condemned to hanging, it makes call of the sentence. It undoubtedly during these painful days that he writes the Ballade of hung the, is also entitled the Epitaph Villon , where its obsession of the bodies pourrissants appears. The January 5th 1463, the Parlement of Paris commuted the sorrow to ten years of banishment. They are there the last traces of the actions of François Villon whom we have.

  • July 22nd: Charles VII, known as “the Victorious one”, king de France of 1422 at 1461. Rumors of poisoning ran, charging this possible crime to agents of the dolphin Louis XI, voluntarily exiled with Genappe. It seems however that the king was made extract a tooth before several days, and that a stroke followed about it.
