  • Discovered Madeira by Portuguese João Gonçalves Zarco and Tristão Vaz Teixeira. According to Jean Descola, the first newcomers put fire at the forests. The fire lasts seven years. After which, they plant in ash the Canne with sugar and the Vigne.

  • July 31st: The Défenestration of Prague, led by Jan Žižka, of the advisers of the emperor to the town hall marks the rupture with the Empire.
  • August 16th: The insurrection bursts when Wenceslas dies. The Sophie queen becomes regent.   • Tsong-kha-Pa, reforming monk Tibetan (born in 1357), founder of the “yellow” lamaïsme. Master of the Amdo come from the central Tibet, his school takes the name of Dge-lugs-Pa, “the Virtuous ones”, and takes again the lesson, fallen in disuse, of the Kadampa. Its success is considerable.
