Asia

  • Of many Japanese monks goes in China.
  • the Italian Franciscain Odoric de Pordenone and its companions cross the Central Asia and the Perse, reach the India, the the West Indies and the China (1325). Odoric remains three years with Beijing. Of return to Padoue, it dictates its memories, “ Voyage in Asia ”, curious mixture of legends and very right observations.

The Middle East

  • July 13rd: In Iran, the minister of Abu Saïd (Houlagides), Rashîd ED-DIN is put at died by its adversaries. The country sinks in feudal anarchy.

  • the December 11th 1317, Birger of Sweden makes stop his/her brothers the dukes Erik and Valdemar during a banquet. They die of hunger in prison at the beginning of 1318. The attempt of the king to seize their possessions causes the rising of their partisans which extends to most of the Swedish nobility. Although supported by Erik Menved of Denmark, Birger must flee of the kingdom (1318), leaving his/her son Magnus Birgersson who is made prisoner and carried out (June 1st 1320). He dies in exile in Denmark (1321).

  • Padoue is dominated by the Carrara.
  • Creation of the Fondaco dei Tedeishi , important store establishes close to the Rialto with Venice.
  • Foundation of Kilia by Génois, port with the mouth of the the Danube (1318 - 1322).
  • Creation in Greece of the duchy of Néopatras, under the suzerainty of the king of Sicily.
  • Discovered Madeira by the Gênois.
