  • Construction of the large temples of Smyrna and Samos.

  • Foundation of Sybaris on the gulf of Tarente, close to the mouth of the Crathis (current Crati), by Achaens.

  • Creation of the basic race (7 at 24 stages) to the Olympic Games. It is gained by Akhantos.

Middle-East

  • Conquest of the Cilicie and the Syria by Sargon II, king of Assyrie.

    • In Syria, Ilu-Bi' di, king of Hama, made secession, while trying to train with him the governors of four provinces, of which Arpad and Damas. The king of Gaza Hanuna, supported by the Egyptians, also revolts. Sargon crushes Ilu-Bi' di with Qarqar (second battle of Qarqar), incorporates Hama in the empire and sends the rebellious Assyrians to it. Ilu-Bi' di is captured and skinned sharp.
