Šaľa

Šaľa (German: Schelle, Hungarian: Vágsellye) is a district business and of culture, placed on Right Bank of the the Danube to the confluence of the Váh river, Šaľa is again since 1996 the seat of one of the seven districts of the area of Nitra which includes/understands 13 communities. Currently it counts nearly 25.000 inhabitants. It is one of the oldest cities of Slovakia and also an important archeological site, since in the neighborhoods one found a cranium néandertalien going back to 45 to 65.000 years, in addition to testimonys of the Stone Age and iron age. At the time of the great invasions she saw following one another many people and cultures. The first hard copy of an establishment at this place, where one gives him the name of will Terra Wag, is an act going back to 1002 and made under the authority of the king Etienne I {{er}} of Hungary.

In 1536 was Šaľa was promoted city by a privilege of the king Ferdinand I {{er}} of the Holy roman Empire. At the 19th century it became the administrative center of the whole territory and since this time also seat of Court of Appeal. Annexed by the Hungary in 1938, it was released only in April 1945.
