Čvrsnica

The mount Čvrsnica is a mountain of the the dinaric Alps located in Bosnia-Herzégovine in the Canton of Herzégovine of the west. The top culminates with: 2228 meters. To 20 km in the east of the mountain the river Neretva passes. The mountain has more than 10 peaks whose altitude exceeds them: 2000 meters. (Plocno: 2228 m, Veliki Jelinak: 2179 m, Veliki Vilinac: 2118 m, etc). One also finds there in the vicinity the lakes of Blidinje , Crepulja and Crvenjak .

The mountain shelters the black pine Munika which is a threatened endemic species and chamois. The climate is Mediterranean at the base of the mountain whereas it is harder in altitude. Snow is present from November on April and the thickness of this one can reach more than 2,5 meters in winter.
