Éleusinies
The Éleusinies (in Greek old Έλευσίνια / Eleusínia ) is a festival in the honor of the goddess Déméter. They were held with Éleusis during the month of Métageitnion (be) on a bi-annual rate/rhythm ( small Eleusinies ) or on more large scales every four years ( large Eleusinies ). They should not be confused with the Mystères of Éleusis, another great worship of the city Attique.
We know that with the panathénaïques plays, Éleusinies were one of the most important festivals Agonistique of Attic even if for those we know few details on their unfolding. There were a procession and a contest (perhaps a contest of processions). The price of the contest was a quantity of grains coming from the plain of Rharos, place where according to the Déméter Athenians with the first time made gift of agriculture to the human ones.
