Éco-epidemiology

the éco- epidemiology (or environmental epidemiology ) is a transverse discipline with the fields of the Médecine and ecology, which more particularly aims the study of the distribution in space and the time and of the ecological determinants of the events of Santé in the populations and/or the ecosystem S (or agrosystèmes).
Cette discipline seeks to appreciate the reality and the extent of the medical impact of the factors environmental biological, physical or chemical.

Éco-epidemiology wants to be Systémique, intégrative and Holistique. It is thus necessarily multi-field, being able to relate to human medicine as well as veterinary, or to have plant health applications or in the field of the health of the ecosystems or the environmental quality.

the eco-epidemiologist seeks to determine the dynamics of the complex ecopathogene which is the whole of the organizations in interaction taking part directly or indirectly in the expression of a disease in an environmental context (space and temporal) given.

It can also be interested in the functions of events which can seem to be diseases, but which sometimes at the animal, the plant or at a symbiotic association of organizations is a response to a stress or a modification of the environment.

It is interested in particular in the durable interactions between Pathogène or parasite and host (of which Co-evolutionary relations).

Utility

The ecoepidemiology aims to include/understand or follow the environmental factors explaining, allowing and/or supporting the Maladie. It is a relatively emergent discipline but which seems to have to take an increasing importance, being given the multiplicity of the pollutants and environmental factors noxious to which the living beings are exposed.
